Winning the Morea Cup
The Morea Cup returned this year as one of the IRC’s longest-standing traditions, bringing together residential colleges for a day of friendly competition and shared energy.

This year’s Morea Cup, which took place on October 4th, was the largest yet featuring six events across Pickleball, Volleyball, Basketball, Ping Pong, Trivia, and Mario Kart. Residential colleges rotated through games throughout the day, filling the spaces with equal parts competition and laughter. I competed in Pickleball and spent much of the day documenting the events as they unfolded, capturing moments both on and off the court.
By the end of the day, the IRC came out on top, taking home the Morea Cup after a full slate of games. This year also introduced a new twist to the tradition. The trophy, now equipped with an AirTag, can be freely stolen by any residential college, as long as they ensure it’s publicly posted for others to see and returned to their trophy room. The roaming trophy adds a playful layer of strategy and storytelling to a tradition already rooted in rivalry and community.
The Morea Cup continues to be a reminder of what makes residential colleges special. It’s competitive without being cutthroat, spirited without being serious, and built around the simple idea that community is strongest when it’s shared.
